Beginning June 5, 2020, all Pennsylvania townships opened up in what Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Wolf called the yellow phase. In this phase, businesses begin to open, with some restrictions, to enforce social distancing. This means normal operation will look very different for most businesses at this time. 

In this phase, businesses in PA must follow the guidance set by Governor Wolf, found here. It outlines many steps for businesses to protect their employees and customers. These include disinfecting high traffic areas regularly and limiting the number of people in the store. Also, wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and symptom screening are encouraged practices. 

For example, in the yellow phase, restaurants can continue to take out and deliver orders, and can open outdoor seating areas as well. Although, restaurants cannot operate at full capacity, allowing outdoor seating will bring in customers. Face masks along with other PPE must be worn when entering the facility, but this is a step towards a “new normal.” 

As this slow and guided reopening brings more activity to PA’s economy, leaders continue to monitor and prioritize public health. Minimizing the spread of Covid-19 remains the main goal of Governor Wolf and the Secretary of Health, Dr. Rachel Levine.

On Thursday, June 4, the Bridgeport Chief of Police, Todd Bereda, accepted the donation on behalf of the department. Chief Bereda, known for his commitment to the community and open dialogue with its residents, was gracious to receive the donation of PPE!
