Fusion PPE Gives Back to Ocean City Police Department in Preparation for Memorial Day Weekend at America’s Greatest Family Resort .
On Monday, May 11, during National Police Week, our founder, Mark Rubino and his brother Louis had the pleasure of meeting Captain Charles Simonson and Sergeant Patrick Walsh of The Ocean City Police Department. Mark and Lou donated a supply of exclusive Microbe Safety Masks™, 3-Ply Disposable Face Masks, and Hand Pump Sanitizers for the police department.
These items were gifted in memory of the Rubino’s late grandparents, Albert and Margaret Porreca, who were a part of the OCNJ community for over 60 years. These supplies came at a critical time for The Ocean City Police Department, as it prepared for Memorial Day Weekend and the beginning of summer in Ocean City, America’s Greatest Family Resort. In the framed photo of the Rubino’s grandparents, you can see Albert and Margaret on the porch of their home in Ocean City. The Gazette shares this photo and the story of the donation in its article, “Local Family Gives Back to Ocean City First Responders.”
Mark Rubino has a longstanding connection with Ocean City. His family goes back four generations of summering at this South Jersey beach destination. On behalf of Fusion PPE, Mark is happy to support the community by donating personal protective equipment.
Mark, Lou, and their cousins spent many summers playing paddle ball on the beach during the day, and walking on the boardwalk at night treating themselves to pizza, popcorn, and ice cream- truly embracing the boardwalk diet! Louis still retains their grandparent’s home on the north end of the island and other Porreca family members reside year-round in OCNJ working as a local dentist, as teachers, and a retired police officer.
This summer “down the shore” will be an adjustment for all, as we learn how to practice social distancing while enjoying the beach towns and supporting small businesses. The local police will be an important part of this process and in keeping the community safe. We hope that our donation will help to protect the visitors and community members of Ocean City from the spread of Covid-19 as they participate in the “Reopening of America.” Wishing everyone a healthy and happy Summer 2020.
